So you want to show up on the first page of Google
A lot has changed when it comes to SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
And most of it has to do with the way Google displays their search results.
It used to be that if you optimize your site and get to the first position on a Google search that your listing would show up first.
That is no longer the case. Now Google will display sponsored results first (which are ads businesses bid on to show up at the top of a search).
Then they’ll show you all of your local Google Map Listings. Sometimes they’ll even show a few Youtube videos or product listings.
And then way down underneath all of that they’ll start showing the organic results. (About 5 of them)
And then they’ll show 5 more sponsors ads underneath that.
So showing up on the first page of Google organically isn’t nearly as valuable as it used to be.
It’s still important because there’s a large sector of people that will skip over all of the sponsored results and go right for the organic results because they believe they’re much more accurate.
So if you want to show up on the first page of a Google search ideally you should have a combination of sponsored ads, Google Map results, Youtube videos, and organic results. The more people see your company name the better and you have the opportunity be listed not just once on the first page of Google but multiple times.
